Profile

Orbit is technically the Astros’ second alien mascot — the original appeared from 1990 to 2000 before being retired. When the reboot arrived in 2012, fans immediately fell in love with the new version’s weirder, goofier personality. Orbit is famous for trolling opposing players from the dugout, photobombing press conferences, and generally making no sense whatsoever — which is precisely why he works.

Fun Facts

  • The original Orbit ran from 1990 to 2000 before the Astros retired him — then brought him back in redesigned form in 2012. The reboot Orbit quickly became more beloved than the original.
  • Orbit is known for his ‘mooching’ personality — he routinely steals food from fans and players, photobombs media appearances, and generally does whatever he wants with zero accountability.
  • Orbit and the Astros celebrated World Series championships in 2017 and 2022, and the alien mascot’s on-field celebrations — including dancing in full confetti rain — became two of the more memorable mascot moments of the decade.
