2023 Greatest Community Impact Award Winner
Dugout is the official mascot of Little League Baseball and Softball, the world’s largest youth baseball and softball organization, headquartered in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Little League serves millions of players across more than 80 countries, and its crown jewel event — the Little League Baseball World Series — draws teams and families from around the globe every summer. Dugout came to life in 1985 and has been a constant presence at the World Series ever since, wandering the complex and delivering hugs, high-fives, and smiles to fans of every age. He’s earned back-to-back Mascot Hall of Fame recognition — the 2022 Greatest Community Impact Award (Corporate category) and the 2023 Greatest Community Impact Award (Corporate category) — making him one of the most consistently honored mascots in the award’s history.
A Symbol of What Little League Stands For
Dugout is more than an entertainer. As the official face of Little League Baseball and Softball, he serves as a living symbol of the organization’s core values — fun, sportsmanship, teamwork, hard work, and community. For many of the young players who compete at the World Series, a moment with Dugout is as memorable as anything that happens on the field. For the families traveling from across the country and around the world, he’s a warm, universal welcome.
The 75th Anniversary Diamond Moment
During the 75th Anniversary of the Little League Baseball World Series, Dugout received a special recognition as one of the event’s 75 landmark moments — a “Diamond Moment” celebrating his 1985 debut and his four decades of bringing the spirit of the game to life for generations of Little Leaguers.
The Little League Baseball World Series has been held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania every year since 1947 — with the exception of 2020, when COVID-19 cancelled the event for the first time in its history. Dugout presumably spent that summer reorganizing his trash can.
